We start to age as soon as we are born. But then there are two interrelated concepts namely growth and development. Both these facets of life go hands in hand. Growth particularly pertains to physical intensification. Development is a wholesome concept which calls for all round progress of the body, mind and soul.

The latter is undertaken by way of education and experiences that go on as we age, finally leading to maturity distinctive of any grown up human being.

* Eat only when hungry. Do not keep munching snacks like a cow.

* Also ensure adding broccoli, sprouts, kale, pomegranate,

apples, oranges and lots of grape fruits in your diet. Presence of folate in them keeps blood cells healthy, keeps the age causing free radicals and dementia at bay.

* Drink ample water to keep the body adequately hydrated,

exposure to sunshine 30 minutes before sunrise and after sunset to supplement Vitamin D for better calcium absorption and for healthy bones and much fresh air.

* Keep a social circle and at least one close confideate to

share every day talk with. Also harbor a hobby which interests you the most and stay occupied.

Wouldn't it be great if we could attain the body of our dreams just by thinking about it? What if I told you that your mind actually plays the most important role in your success in getting fit? Sounds crazy, but it's true...

Our subconscious mind has one all-important job, and it succeeds every time. What is this job? To prove that your beliefs are true. Note the wording here: To prove that YOUR BELIEFS are true. Not to point out what is actually true. In fact, your mind can't distinguish between whether an event is really happening or not. Visualization is a powerful tool.

There have been studies done with athletes. The athlete is told to visualize his/her event in their mind and talk themselves through the event. After the event has happened, their coach played a video tape of their actual event and in many cases, the actual event was identical to the athlete's prior description of the event before the event happened.

Your beliefs are the truth for your life. Whether or not these beliefs are in fact true doesn't matter. If you believe something to be true, then your subconscious mind will perceive the universe around you in such a way that makes this belief true.

So how does this relate to your fitness level?

If you have the belief that getting in shape is hard, that eating healthy is boring, or that weight loss is elusive then you will find getting in shape to be very difficult. If you think of yourself as a fat person, or an out-of-shape person, or just an average person then your subconscious mind will do everything in its power to keep you that way.

Take a minute to let that sink in.

The great thing about our subconscious mind is that we can train it to work for us instead of against us. All we have to do is change our belief.

I'm sure you have heard the term "Believe and Achieve" - many schools have this painted on their walls and it is even printed on T-shirts. Well, the concept is absolutely true and when applied can bring success to your door faster than you thought possible.

It won't help if you simply think that it 'isn't impossible' or that 'it could happen someday.' These aren't true beliefs.

In order to have your desired result you need to truly believe with every fiber of your being that you will achieve this goal. If you are overweight then close your eyes and picture yourself fit. If you have fifty pounds to lose then think of yourself as fifty pounds lighter.

In my last post I gave an overview of the science behind the development of acne in the skin. Now while that science is the process that forms acne on the skin, there is a much deeper cause that most people aren't aware of.

Behind The Science:

What most people are yet to discover (scientists included) is that acne is the result of unhealthy toxins building up in the body. People generally put all kinds of unhealthy food and drinks with little or no nutritional value into their body and while the body can process a certain amount of toxins, this overloads the its digestive process and causes the toxins to be disposed of throughout the body.

It is important to know that a healthy body is extremely immune to infections, bacteria and even viruses of all kinds. This is why some people are more prone to illness than others. This has been known by many to be one of the core reasons for cancer, of which, in noted cases, only a change in diet was required to eliminate the cancer.

And it is also the root cause of acne.

It's all based on pH balance.

"What is pH balance?" I hear you ask. The human body relies on a delicate balance of acid and alkali. Some of you will remember these terms from Chemistry class in high school. The pH (potential of Hydrogen) of any substance is measured in a range from 0 to 14; 0 being the most acidic, 14 being the most alkaline and 7 being neutral. Water is a neutral substance having a pH of exactly 7. And since the human body is about 75% water, the human body also needs to be as neutral as possible.

Everything we put into our body has a pH level. These days, the absolute majority of food available is over acidic. From your everyday processed foods in supermarkets like pies and pasta, to the take away and fried foods available on every major street in the world. All of these foods have an acidic effect on the body and cause excess toxins to build up.

The cumin herbal plant (Cuminum cyminum) was one of the most commonly used spices in Europe, particularly during the Middle Ages. Native to upper Egypt, the cumin herbal plant is characterized by its slender stem and unique branches. Cumin has long been cultivated in Mediterranean countries as well as in Iran, China, India and Arabia.

The Cumin Herbal Plant

The name "cumin" is a derivative of the Persian city of Kerman. The Persian pronunciation was "Kermun". This name evolved to "Kumun" and then to its present name, "cumin", in European pronunciations.

The cumin herbal plant is a herbaceous perennial that is a part of the carrot family, Apiaceae. The plant rarely exceeds one foot in height. The cumin herbal plant has deep green leaves that are divided into long, narrow segments. In the Northern Hemisphere, the cumin herbal plant produces its small, rose-colored or white flower in stalked umbels with four to six rays during the months of June and July. Its flowers contain the seeds that are the commonly used herb referred to simply as "cumin."

Today, the cumin herbal plant is grown commercially for use as a spice in Morocco, Egypt, India, Syria, Canada, the United States and Chile.

Cumin in History

The cumin herbal plant is mentioned in the Bible in the books of Isaiah and Matthew. The plant's herbal healing properties have also been mentioned by figures such as Hippocrates and Dioscorides. In addition, Pliny wrote that the ancient Greeks grounded up the cumin herbal plant's seeds to use as a medicine with bread and water or wine. These ancient Greeks noted that when cumin herbal seeds were smoked, they changed the pallor of the face, which is why Horace once exclaimed, "Ex sangue cuminum!" Some people think this is the reason the Greek believed that the plant was associated with Eros, the god of love.

Health Uses of Cumin

The cumin herbal plant is thought to be a stimulant with antispasmodic and carminative from properties. Herbalists used to tout that the cumin herbal plant has superior carminative properties (the ability to expel gas from the alimentary canal for colic relief) compared to fennel and caraway. However, many patients did not like cumin's flavor so its use as a carminative is now mostly confined to veterinary practice.

The cumin herbal plant seeds contain fatty oil with resin, mucilage and gum, malates and albuminous matter. The film that covers the seeds contains tannin, which explains the plant's historical use to prevent excessive flatulency caused by languid digestion. In the dermis, fat cells store trigycerids (fatty contents) from meals.  Fat cells are spread all over the body and tend to accumulate in genetically predetermined areas.  Normally, this is done by the body to fend off periods of starvation.  Fat cells then release their contents in the form of acids and glycerol.

The connective tissue and skin is irrigated through the capillary network in order to bring the indispensible components to the tissue and to regulate the temperature.

Since starvation periods are rare, the body tends to store these fatty contents in excess and we then gain weight.

Thus when fat cells increase in size and number and create cellulite:

  • They press on blood vessels , capillaries and the lymphatic system, reducing the exchanges in the connective tissues;  
  • They stock a higher amount of fatty contents enlarging their size - increasing poor circulation and accumulation of liquids due to reduced lympathic drainage.

When this happens, wastes, toxins and liquids accumulate and the connective tissue becomes sluggish and is often inflamed and swollen.  Growing fat cells destroys the network made by elastin and collagen fibers and they press on nerve endings, making cellulite painful under pressure or during exercise.

How to be a Cellulite Reducer

In order to get rid of cellulite, you must mind the following:

  • Diet - Follow a purifying diet and avoid foods that produce a toxin storage in the body.

     

  • Breathing - Proper breathing facilitates oxygenation of the blood and assist the lungs in removing toxins.
